El Viejo Marino In Ushuaia

One of the best restaurants in Ushuaia is El Viejo Marino. It’s a family-run restaurant and highly recommended for centolla.
Unfortunately, they don’t take reservations. Be prepared to wait in a long line if you are determined to see for yourself if their centolla lives up to its reputation. A long line of hungry customers forms outside El Viejo Marino about an hour before the restaurant opens.
El Viejo Marino is famous for its fresh and delicious centolla. Combined with the reasonable price, it is well worth the wait.
It is open for lunch only on Saturdays and closed on Sundays.

Tia Elvira restaurant is almost next door to El Viejo Marino. You have a good chance of getting a table even without a reservation.
Tia Elvira is not as famous as El Viejo Marino, but I can assure you that the food is just as good and the wines are excellent. The service at Tia Elvira is perfect.

Chiko Restaurant in Ushuaia

Another restaurant in Ushuaia I would recommend is Chiko. A local guy in Ushuaia told me, “Chileans understand seafood. We Argentines are more into meat.” And the same guy recommended Chiko restaurant.
The owners of Chiko are Chileans and they definitely know how to cook seafood. Chilean wines are excellent and don’t need any recommendations.

Puerto Almanza

Puerto Almanza is a small fishing village on the Beagle Channel. It is a great place to eat centolla and other fresh seafood. The centolla prices in the restaurants of Puerto Almanza are lower compared to those in Ushuaia.

The only downside of Puerto Almanza is its location. It is 75 km away from Ushuaia and half of the distance is unpaved road. You can rent a car to get to Puerto Almanza. Another option is to book a tour to Puerto Almanza.
